Blue trolleybus on Arbat (bard cafe)

The blue trolleybus on the Arbat, which houses the bard cafe, was created in memory of the famous inhabitant of this corner of the capital – Bulat Okudzhava.

The idea of creating the bard center was the song of Bulat Shalvovich “Midnight Trolleybus”, which was performed for the first time back in 1957.

Connoisseurs of the famous bard’s art will probably remember these lines:

“… I get into the blue trolleybus on the go, the last one, the random one.”

The ZiU-6205 trolleybus, which was released in 1999, became the premises for the Blue Trolleybus bard-cafe on Arbat. For a long time, its route passed from the All-Russian Exhibition Center to the Moscow Ring Road, until ten years later it was written off.

But this was only the beginning of a new story of this worker – he was converted into a platform for bardic songs.

Cafe "Blue Trolleybus"

The outer part of the trolleybus body is decorated with a collage of photographs of famous performers of the author’s song, the windows were pasted over with a staff with notes.

In the place where the driver’s seat was located, a concert stage was equipped, and passenger seats became the auditorium. True, for the convenience of listeners, the passage between the seats was widened, and thus there were 30 seats, against the 50 that existed.

The ceiling of the “Blue Trolleybus” on the Arbat was plastered with concert posters, and photographs of famous bards hang on the walls.

The interior lighting was not changed – the old shades on the ceiling remained here. Only the table lamps on the tables in front of the spectators of the bard cafe became an addition.
